Simplicity is a virtue
These rack towers are such a no-brainer that a blind person could mount them by touch. (I hope I did not offend anyone--just making a point.) Some rigs have very wide rails, in particular a two-year model of Forester and of course, the cool looking but inadequate rails on the Xterra. You must consult Thule's Fit Guide. The knob/lock/tightening tool is pure genius. Like all manufacturers, Thule has some hits and some very few misses, but this set-up is a home run. Highly recommended. Just consult their Fit Guide and you'll be racked up in no time. Top to learn more

The Thule 450 Crossroad Railing-mounted Foot Pack for Car Roof Racks is designed for vehicles with factory rack side rails, and fits more vehicles than any other railing carrier. Awesome light weight rack for the price
I did a whole lot of research before purchasing a roof rack for my '95 ZJ. This rack fits the bill in every way, it looks awesome, is light, made of corrosion resistant aluminium, and has more accessory mounts than you can shake a stick at. Installation is a breeze. Not pictured are the 48" crossbars that came with the kit I purchased. My only gripe is that this was not communicated and i bought another set.

I have owned this for about 3 weeks and I am very happy with it. I have a toyota sienna 2001 with factory roof rack. It took a little bit of modification to make this fit perfect onto my factory roof rack. Overall It is solid and light weight. Comes with all the parts needed. Fast delivery from Amazon.com. Great Rack, Great Price, and Made in the USA
I bought this rack for my 1986 Jeep Cherokee to move the spare out of the back window. I loved the look of it and that it cost almost half as much as most other baskets I looked at. It was sturdy, well made, easy to assemble and good looking. Also I got to support and American company with American workers, which was a plus in my eyes. I would definitely recommend and purchase again, if I ever need to.

About Thule To say that Thule’s beginnings in the U.S. were humble would be an understatement. Founding member Ake Skeppner sold products at windsurf competitions on the New England shoreline, exhibited the product line at a number of different trade shows, and even canvassed local retailers in the greater New York area, all from his "office"--a now-famous station wagon. Initial success was found in the small but growing sport of windsurfing where a strong, reliable roof rack was an indispensable piece of equipment. This was quickly followed by success in the ski business where Thule's Swedish heritage certainly helped the product gain rapid acceptance.
By the mid-1980s, the company sold products directly to ski and windsurfing shops but sold through distributors to address the large and growing bike business. A risky decision was made to terminate these distributor relationships and sell direct to retailers through a network of independent sales representatives. Much of the company's market success today can be traced to that decision. Shortly after, Ake hired an engineer and set up a small assembly plant in Elmsford, New York in order to design and manufacture bike carriers that would offer the features demanded by the U.S. consumer and compete effectively with other racks on the market.
The company has since grown rapidly through product innovation, a commitment to quality, and the continuance of a strong entrepreneurial spirit as well as continuing to evolve their products to meet the needs of users.
Bars great; picture of product slightly misleading
This is a pretty straightforward purchase: two Thule-brand bars of dimension 1.25" x 0.75" -- exactly what I needed to replace my old (ancient!) Terzo-brand bars that finally rusted out and gave way. Only 3 stars are awarded as I found the picture misleading: the end caps are NOT included, I'll have to buy these separately now. Had I known (or read the written description which omits mention of the caps) I would have sprung the extra $5 to get the caps included in my free shipping. Top to learn more
Work great, but attachments can damage skin and end caps are NOT included
These bars work really well, but there are two things to know:1) the end caps are pictured, but are NOT included with these. The end caps come with the foot pack or can be purchased separately2) when you attach things like Thule bike racks or ski attachments, the plastic skin can become cut by tightening the attachments to the bar. This can lead to rust and failure over the very long term. They should have used a tiny bit tougher plastic skin.Be sure to use the end caps or they will rust from the inside out. Top to learn more

better than thule
I'm surprised no reviews mention how much superior the Yakima product is compared to Thule. I put mine on top of my Excursion. It is a bit heavy and installation is definitely a two man (ahem -person) job. The new revised lever latch is improved over the twist latch that these used to have. The pro model is definitely the way to go. It looks better, has a smooth, glossy finish which is much more stain/dirt resistent. Stiffer = much quieter at fwy speeds. My mileage dropped about 1-2mpg with the box on top. Very quiet, but the Excursion ain't exactly a luxury sedan so maybe I didn't notice, YMMV.Why is the Yakima superior to Thule? The Thule's use a two pronged claw design to attach to the bars. If you install your box on a sedan, wagon or suv with a low roof line, then you'll be able to hoist it on from the side (with claws open). If you have a high clearance (= high roofline SUV) like I do, its much easier to slide the cargo box onto the roof from the back... Top to learn more

AWESOME CARGO BOX!!!
I purchased the SKYBOX PRO 21 in Onyx for my Cadillac Escalade ESV. It fits great on the factory racks. The design is not quite as flashy as the THULE 2100 however it is much easier to mount. I can put this on the car without any help. However two people would make it a breeze. Once it is on top you just slide it back over the cross bars, open the box and push the lever down and its done. About 2 minutes total. VERY VERY EASY!! The useable space is much better than the THULE 2100. The THULE's contours make it difficult to maximize the useable space, therefore their 2100xt is the equivalent to the SKYBOX PRO 18 in comparison. If you have an 8' garage door you can leave the box on top of the car with no clearance problems even with a Suburban, Yukon or Escalade. With it mounted to my Buick Enclave it is no issue with the hatch or clearance mounted on factory cross bars. The PRO comes with a pad and a safety net for securing items. Great cargo box
I have had a Yakima cargo box before with 21 cubic feet. This new one has many improvements over the old version. The new version attaches in three places (when you close it) instead of two, and the closing attachments seem to be more secure. After a while the old box would allow rain to come in (so we frequently traveled with luggage in big plastic garbage bags), and this one seems less likely to have this problem. It is great to have the 21 cubic feet, although it would have held slightly more, and bigger objects if it did not have the slight fins on top, but had stayed elevated across the top, instead of having the fin-created dip. The titanium look held up well on the first camping trip.It is nice to be able to open the box from both sides. This allows you to pack small items a little better from both sides -- if you are maximizing what you can get in, like I did on a recent car camping trip.
